Scrimbles (“the App”) is a mobile game published on the Apple App Store by Synapz, LLC, a company based in New York, USA (“we”, “us”, or “our”).

We are committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we (do not) collect, how it may be used, and what choices and rights you have, with specific consideration of the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA/CPRA (California) frameworks.

1. Data Controller

For purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, the data controller for Scrimbles is:

2. Information We Do Not Collect

The Scrimbles app is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not collect or store any information that can directly identify you.

In particular, the App does not:

• Collect or store your real name (unless you voluntarily type it as a player name, and even then it is not stored after the game ends)
• Collect or store your address, email address, or phone number
• Collect or store your IP address in any app-specific database
• Use cookies, tracking pixels, device fingerprinting, or other tracking technologies for analytics or advertising
• Create persistent user profiles or track you across apps or websites

The App also does not implement any analytics SDKs or crash-reporting tools that collect personal data.

3. Player Name (Temporary In-Game Variable)

Within a game session, the App may ask you to enter a player name. This could be any string you choose and does not need to be your real name.

• The player name is stored only in memory as a temporary variable.
• It is not written to permanent storage on your device by the app.
• It is not transmitted to our servers, because we do not operate any backend services for this App.
• It expires at the conclusion of each game session, at which point it is discarded.

Because the player name is temporary, not linked to any other data, and not stored or transmitted, we do not treat it as personal data we control under GDPR/CCPA.

4. Game Center

You may choose to play Scrimbles while signed in to Apple’s Game Center. In that case:

• Game Center may collect and process information such as your Game Center nickname, Apple ID, achievements, and leaderboard scores, according to Apple’s own privacy policies.
• We do not have access to your Apple ID or any identifying information from Game Center beyond what Apple makes available via its APIs (for example, your Game Center display name or leaderboard status).
• We do not export, store, or combine Game Center data with any external database.

Your use of Game Center is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies, which are independent of this Privacy Policy.

5. Advertising and Third-Party Services

The free version of Scrimbles may display third-party advertisements.

• Within the App itself, we do not collect personal data for advertising or tracking.
• However, when an advertisement is shown or when you tap/click an advertisement, the third-party advertiser or ad network may collect information in accordance with their privacy policies.
• Such third parties may use cookies, device identifiers, or other tracking technologies that we do not control.

When you interact with a third-party ad, you are subject to that third party’s own privacy policy and terms. We encourage you to review those policies before engaging with ads.

6. Legal Bases Under GDPR

Because Scrimbles is designed not to collect or store personal data, our processing of personal data in the context of this App is either:

• Non-existent, because no personal data is processed by us; or
• Limited to what is strictly necessary for the basic functioning of the App, in which case the legal basis would be our legitimate interests in providing a functional, secure app (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Any additional processing performed by Apple (App Store, Game Center) or third-party advertisers is carried out under their responsibility and their legal bases, not ours.

7. Rights of EU/EEA/UK Users (GDPR)

To the extent that GDPR applies and we act as a data controller for any personal data (which, as noted, is extremely limited or nonexistent for this App), you may have the following rights:

• Right of access – to know whether we hold any personal data about you.
• Right to rectification – to request corrections of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure – to request deletion of your personal data.
• Right to restriction and objection – to limit or object to certain processing.
• Right to data portability – to receive a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used format (where applicable).

Given that we intentionally do not store any identifying information, in most cases we will respond that we have no data relating to you.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Rights of California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents may have rights such as:

• The right to know what categories of personal information are collected, used, or disclosed;
• The right to request deletion of personal information;
• The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights.

Scrimbles is designed not to collect, store, sell, or share personal information about users for CCPA/CPRA purposes. If you contact us to exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, we will explain that we do not maintain personal information about you in this context.

Note: Third-party advertisers and platforms (e.g., Apple, ad networks) may independently collect or “sell/share” personal information under CCPA/CPRA. You should review and, if desired, exercise your rights directly with those parties.

9. Data Retention

Because Scrimbles does not persistently store personal data:

• We do not maintain databases of user information.
• Temporary in-memory values (such as the player name during a game) are discarded at the end of the game session.
• Any data handled by third-party services (e.g., Apple, advertisers) is retained by those services according to their own policies.

10. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not ask children to provide identifying information, and we do not create user accounts or profiles.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us in a way not described in this policy, please contact us at admin@synapz.us so that we can investigate and delete any such data, if present.

11. International Data Transfers

Synapz, LLC is based in the United States. While we do not collect or store personal data through the App itself, third-party services you choose to use with the App (such as Apple’s Game Center or ad networks) may transfer data internationally and store it on servers located in various countries. Such transfers are governed by those third parties’ privacy policies and compliance mechanisms (e.g., standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions).

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect:

• Changes in the App’s functionality;
• New legal requirements; or
• Updates to third-party integrations.

When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this document and, where feasible, provide notice within the App or via the App Store listing.
